When it comes to tools, you’re always going to see BLACK+DECKER at the top of the list. The BLACK+DECKER LDX120PK cordless drill maintains it’s number one spot in our review of best cordless drills of 2018. Why? Because of all it has to offer for it’s $74 price point. The cordless drill comes with a 20V Lithium Ion battery that is capable of holding a charge for up to 18 months. The charger is included in this package.
The biggest thing people are concerned with when buying a “cheaper” drill, is how much power does the cordless drill have? Is it going to strip screws? The BLACK+DECKER LDX120PK comes with an 11 position clutch that prevents stripping, and overdriving screws. Overdriving screws can cause wood to split, making it less durable and reliable.
You aren’t only getting the BLACK+DECKER LDX120PK cordless drill, though. You are also getting 68 hand tools, and accessories that come with a carrying bag that allows for easy portability and storage. The BLACK+DECKER LDX120PK cordless drill is an all-package deal for your home improvement projects, whether you’re a new homeowner, or just looking for a new cordless drill, and tools.
Where the BLACK+DECKER LDX120PK brings the budget, the DEWALT DC777C2 cordless drill, brings the power. It has a high-performance motor that is capable of delivering 340W of power. This allows for 75% longer runtime with lithium ion batteries. The cordless drill also has a no load speed of 0-600, and 0-2000. If you’re unfamiliar with no-load speed, the higher the number is, the higher the tool’s maximum no-load speed will be. No-load speed is the max speed a cordless drill can reach without a load. Longer duration, and more power? Great combination.
The DEWALT DC777C2 cordless drill comes with a high-speed transmission that delivers 2 speed variations. This will allow you to choose the level of performance needed for various projects. Are you in need of a slower, less risky speed? Set the cordless drill to it’s slowest option, and watch the drill work it’s magic. The DEWALT DC777C2 cordless drill has a chuck size of ½” (where the drill bit is insterted), a chuck type of ½” ratcheting, a clutch setting of 15. If you’re looking for a durable, and reliable cordless drill, look no further than the DEWALT DC777C2.
The Makita XPH102 cordless drill is slightly different in the sense that is a hammer drill on top of a regular drill. If you’re unfamiliar, it provides a short, hasty hammer thrust to pulverize relatively brittle material, allowing for a quicker drilling with significantly less effort. The Makita XPH102 comes with a 4-pole motor, that is capable of delivering an industry-leading 480 lbs of max torque.
The cordless drills variable 2-speed design, with no-lead speed 0-600, and 0-1900 RPM, as well as 0-9,000 & 0-28,500 BPM, allow for a wide range of drilling, driving, and hammer applications. If you want to expand outside of it’s normal drilling capability, you can use it as a driver-drill, or a hammer driver-drill that is engineered for projects on wood, metal, masonry, and concrete, as mentioned previously. Most hammer drills require to be plugged in, but not this cordless drill. It is equipped with a 18V, 54 watt Lithium Ion battery. The battery reaches a full charge within 30 minutes of hitting the charger. It weighs weighs approximately 3.9 lbs with the battery for reduced fatigue while working on your home improvement projects.
We are ranking this third in our reviews of best cordless drills of 2018 per the versatility of the cordless drill, and it’s price point.
The Tacklife SDP50DC is one of two super budget cordless drills we have on our list. This drill does not include any extra accessories, or tools as it’s competitors do, except for a 30 pc drill bit set, and 1 extension bit. It comes with a USB charging cable as well.
The Tacklife SDP50DC cordless drill is equipped with a 3.6V, 2000mAh Lithium Ion battery with a LED allowing you to know when it is finished charging. The Tacklife SDP50DC has a power indicator, in 3 levels, showing you real-time what kind of power the battery has remaining. It takes approximately 3 hours to charge whereas a lot of it’s competitors, the more expensive cordless drills, take 30 minutes. Less charge time, means more home improvement time. Cordless drill recharge rates are taken for granted.
Our favorite feature of the Tacklife SDP50DC cordless drill, is the 2 adjustable lights that allow for visibility. Think about it, no more asking your son, daughter, or spouse to come hold a flashlight next to your hand, blinding you because they get bored and shine it in your eyes on accident. Ultimately, The Tacklife SDP50DC is the perfect cordless drill on a budget.

The cordless drill is capable of 115 lbs of max torque, and no-load speed up to 650 RPM. A con of ours was that the actual material the cordless drill is made of, is a cheap plastic that looks very toy-ish, as well as no carrying case, or storage case included. But, the versatility it offers in being both a regular cordless drill, and a hammer drill, outweighed the single con.
The value, and productivity of this drill at it’s markup is unmatched, and we highly recommend the BLACK+DECKER LDX120C cordless drill for your home improvement needs. Don’t wait any longer in purchasing what will make you proud when completing a project. Invest in an amazing cordless drill today!

The Makita XT273R cordless drill combo kit is the biggest competitor for the DEWALT version. With a significantly lower price point, we recommend this for someone on a budget in need of an incredible hammer drill, and a driver drill. Makita cordless drills are known for being absolute monsters, and capable of taking on any job.
The hammer driver-drill has a variable 2-speed, ½” chuck with speeds of 0-400, and 0-1,500 on a Makita-built 4-pole motor that is capable of delivering 480 lbs of max torque. Weighing in a 3.4 lbs, the cordless drill will allow for longer sessions with less fatigue, or none at all. The impact driver is equipped with a variable 2-speed motor that is capable of speeds 0-2,3000 RPM, and 0-3,200 impacts per minute (IPM) with an incredible 1,420 lbs of max torque on a weight of 2.8 lbs. The Makita impact driver features an extreme protection technology called XPT that is created for increased dust, and water resistance in harsh job environments. On top of that, it has star protection computer that will control overloading, over-discharging and of course, overheating.
Overall, the Makita XT273R comes in slightly lower than the DEWALT DCK299P2 cordless drill combo kit due to less power, and a few less features. But, if you are on a budget, and in need of an amazing cordless combo kit, look no further than the Makita XT273R.
One of the best cordless drill, and driver drill combos on the market, expect the Tacklife PCD02B to surpass your expectations. At a great price point of $56, this cordless drill kit comes with 8 pc drill bit set, 8 pc driver bit set, as well as an extension for the bit older. The cordless drill comes equipped with a 12V Lithium Ion battery capable of recharging itself in a single hour, fast charger pack included.
In our reviews, we found that the cordless drill is it very lightweight. At a measly 2 lbs, it allowed us to continue our projects for a longer period of time without becoming fatigued. Longer work periods, is efficiency. Efficiency of the cordless drill will allow you to get back to whatever your hobbies are in a more appropriate time manner!
The Tacklife PCD02B cordless drill combo kit has a 2-speed transmission for drilling, and screwdriving. There’s a low speed gear for maximum torque, perfect for screwing in big bits. The second gear, has lower torque, allowing for fast screwdriving. The forward/reverse switch is in a perfect place, allowing you to operate the cordless drill with a single hand. We found this very important in our testing, as taking your other hand off of what you are attempting to drill, or screw, can potentially mess up placement. Overall, we highly recommend the Tacklife PCD02B cordless drill kit on a budget.
The Genesis GCD18BK cordless drill kit is a cheaper version of the Tacklife PCD02B. However, at a cheaper price point, you are certainly getting a bang for your buck. The drill has a ⅜” keyless chuck, with variable speeds 0-550 RPM as well as a magnetic tray for bits, and screws. Equipped with a 18 volt NiCad battery, you can expect a mediocre runtime. NiCad batteries tend to be a bit less powerful than it’s counterpart, the Lithium Ion, so make sure you take that into consideration when purchasing your next cordless drill.
The Genesis GCD18BK cordless drill has a 16 position torque/clutch settings, with an electric brake. Adjusting the torque accordingly is very often overlooked. The drill has a built-in LED working light, allowing you to see in darker areas. Personally, I have had awful experiences where I am trying to drill, or screw in a dark area, and need the assistance of someone. They eventually get bored, and forget what they are supposed to be doing. I’d like to avoid that if at all possible, and this cordless drill allows for that.
Overall, the Genesis GCD18BK is an amazing cordless drill kit for projects around your house. You cannot argue the price point, and the features that this cordless drill offers for it, respectively. Are you a new home owner? This drill is the perfect fit for you.
An amazing take-to-work cordless drill, the Porter-Cable combo kit will last you for a few years. Known for it’s durability, and reliability, it is the perfect workhorse cordless drill. Capable of running a 20V Max Lithium Ion battery, it has a long runtime. The drill has a ½” keyless chuck allowing for a super fast bit change, and an LED light that will illuminate any darkened areas. At a compact size of 8.25 in, and 3.5 lbs, you surely will not get fatigued when using the Porter-Cable cordless drill.
The Porter-Cable Max cordless drill is also a driver drill. The drill has a 2-speed gear box allowing for speeds 0-350, and 0-1500 RPMs. This drill will deliver the power needed to complete any task with relative ease.
Unfortunately, one of the cons with this cordless drill, is that it doesn’t come with the Lithium Battery, a storage/carrying case, a recharge station, or even drill bits. So, when considering the Porter-Cable Max cordless drill, make sure you are looking at the available, and correct accessories for it. Otherwise, you may have a downtime after the purchase of the drill.
